Remote Site Construction/Civil Works – Verizon Telecom

Verizon Southwest depends on GW Communications to handle its Remote Site Civil Works as a turn-key arrangement. Since 2009, GW has procured Rights of Way from landowners, engineered, and built remote telecommunications network equipment sites throughout the State of Texas. GW builds sites from the ground up including site entry/egress, pad preparation, foundation construction, mechanical work and pre-wiring as well as structure and equipment placement.

In addition, GW supports Verizon Southwest strategic Fiber-to-the-Cell Site Program by deploying cross-connect cabinets at new sites under tight schedule demands.


CATV OSP Network Engineering – Windstream

GW Communications recently completed a 1,200 linear mile project for Windstream in northeast Georgia. Windstream is deploying new network technology as part of a network upgrade project and trusted on GW to provide quality design documents from which to build it.  GW engineers and drafters also created new records for territories recently acquired by Windstream as part of the engineering process. Previously out of the project’s scope, this work was seamlessly folded into the project partly because of GW’s engagement flexibility.



Strategic Network Planning Support – Verizon Telecom


GW personnel support Verizon Network Engineering and Planning in their efforts to cost effectively meet Licensing Franchise Agreement (LFA) requirements as part of Verizon’s FiOS Program. GW Engineers analyze GIS using MapInfo and ancillary data to help Verizon Planners to understand the commitments they have to the Licensing Entities. In addition, GW engineers develop network plans by which Verizon can serve the required areas most effectively. GW has provided this support to Verizon since 2008.



Remote Equipment Site Maintenance – Grande Networks


Grande Communications recognizes the value of a structured maintenance plan for its remote equipment shelters. GW recently executed a contract with Grande for this important work. GW performs a comprehensive site inspection and addresses the issues we find. Repaired sites are then added to our shelter maintenance calendar for semi-annual service. Grande has already recognized the value of GW’s HVAC service package – several problematic sites no longer exhibit the internal temperature problems they had prior to filter replacement and coil cleaning by GW.



Network Equipment Upgrade Program – Verizon Wireless


Verizon Wireless awarded a 50+ Cell Site Ethernet Installation project to GW in July 2012. The customer needed the new router installed, wired, configured, and tested to support their LTE deployment across a 10,000 square mile area in northwest Texas in the span of a few weeks. GW crews worked extended schedules to ensure we met the customer’s expectations and completed the project 2 days early.



Data Center Cable Infrastructure Deployment – CyrusOne


CyrusOne commissioned GW to provide a turnkey solution for their initial Carrier Room-to-Meet Me Room communications requirements for its new data center in Carrollton, Texas. GW developed the plan for a diverse and redundant network that ensures that CyrusOne customers in Data Hall I will experience high-speed, low-latency communications with the assurance of 100% availability. GW erected a 2600 linear foot cable tray system at 32 feet above floor level and deployed single and multi-mode fiber to connect the rooms. Fiber cables were then terminated in customer-designated patch panels. CyrusOne was able to open Data Hall I in a mere 14 weeks due in part to GW’s ability to fulfill this critical requirement in an expeditious manner.



OSP Design – AT&T Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas City, Tennessee, and Missouri


GW personnel support AT&T with Design resources to complete BAU, ASE, and Light Gig projects throughout Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas City, Tennessee, and Missouri serving areas. These projects are both volume bid contracts and lump sum bid awards. These projects are worked with resources from our Austin, Lubbock, and Coppell Corporate office in Texas, and our Kansas City, Kansas office.
