Be able to do site surveys inside the Central Office
Design transport network facilities and services
Analyze network requirements, develop plans and proposals
Working knowledge of LAN and WAN transport media is essential (Ethernet; Frame-Relay; SDH, SONET, ATM; TDM (E1, T1, etc). Network is based on a mix of these technology and troubleshooting service issue may well require this knowledge.
Extensive knowledge of transport topologies and capacity planning of both trunks/links and network elements

Skills and Qualifications

Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
At least 3 years experience in designing and implementing transport networks
Understands telecom industry standards and practices
Strong analytical skills, the ability to meet deadlines, multi task and prioritize
Ability to work without direct supervision quickly in a dynamic environment
Ability to make high level design assumptions when provided limited information
Excellent written and oral communications, interpersonal, analytical, abstract reasoning and organizational skills
